This isn't one of those bogus work at home schemes, and I'm not trying to sell you anything. I'm just so happy with my "work from home business" that I'd like to encourage other people to give it a try. You can start in your spare time and it costs very little to get set up. There's no selling in this business and anyone can do it -- young or old.

A year ago I started a little home-based business because I was dissatisfied with my job. The business began with a travel guide to eastern Virginia. I offer information about tourist attractions and local events. Now I have several websites and you can do something similar for your town or region. Working from home is the way to earn your freedom.

$500 a week isn't a huge amount of money, but it is a very nice profit from just working in my spare time. Many businesses don't make any profit for years after starting. How do I make money from my websites? From advertising on the site. And where to I get advertisers? That's the easy part -- Google has a wonderful program called Adsense that puts ads on my site automatically. When people click on the ads, I make money. It's really simple.

Another excellent way to make money from a website is with TripAdvisor. Their site offers hotel reviews and price comparisons. As one of their affiliates, I put links to their site on mine, and when people click through and compare rates, I make money. It's easy to set up.

Is it hard to create a website? No. If you have kids, they may already know how. Anyway, there are HTML-editor programs (like Microsoft FrontPage) that make it simple to do. You'll also need a website host. Those are your only expenses and that's one of the reasons this Internet home business is so cool.

Your work from home business doesn't have to start with a travel website. Your great small business opportunity might be in a different topic all together.
